Best Travel Blogs 2020: Travellers You Should Be Following

Somehow, it’s the New Year already and time to list off the list of the Best Travel Blogs 2020. After a brief hiatus from creative travel-themed list-making last year, I’m back and ready to share my favourites. These travellers are not only going on inspiring adventures, but sharing their stories in exciting and stunning ways. Some are storytellers, some photographers, and some have hit the sweet spot with both. But these are the movers and shakers that will get you straight onto Skyscanner and planning the next journey.

TRAVEL TEXTBOOK

You can’t write a post like this and not slip in a sneaky *self promo* (sorry). You are here on Travel Textbook already, but why not stick around for some more by subscribing!

In 2020, I’m starting work as a junior doctor but still hoping to go on plenty of adventures. With lots of local exploration around Victoria planned, as well as a trip abroad (hopefully to sub-Saharan Africa) there will be plenty coming up on Travel Textbook. Plus, I’m still working on getting out all my Europe and Mexico/Cuba content from this year — stay tuned!

THE SANDY FEET

Freya is a talented writer and photographer who travels to some intriguing parts of the globe. Her exciting adventures are never-ending and her beautifully curated travel blog highlights the best of the trips. My favourite posts have been from her colourful adventures in Central Asia, Taiwan and the Solomon Islands. I would strongly recommend giving The Sandy Feet a follow in 2020 for some top notch travel inspiration.

THE COMMON WANDERER

It’s near impossible for me to create one of these lists without giving The Common Wanderer a mention. These guys have been inspiring my travels and blog since day dot. Their visited destinations are exciting, but I particularly love their vision for sharing advice focused on local engagement, reducing our impact, and travelling sustainably. Not to mention, their photography is some of the best in the business! These guys are just getting better and better, and I cannot wait to see what they get up to in 2020.

TEACAKE TRAVELS

Alice from Teacake Travels is one of my favourite travel bloggers and a real inspiration for solo female travellers. She ventures to some really interesting corners of the globe, proving that us female travellers can do anything. I particularly enjoyed following her adventures in Pakistan this year, and I’m excited to see what she gets up to in 2020!

MIGRATIONOLOGY

As time goes on, my travels have become more and more about food. And most of that is thanks to Migrationology’s posts pointing me in the right direction. My latest trips to Taiwan and Mexico saw me try out some of the recommendations from Mark and they did not disappoint!

With genuine, tried-and-tested recommendations from all the far flung corners of the world, Mark knows the world’s food better than anyone. His recommendations have always been spot on, and his blog posts and videos are uplifting and inspirational. There is so much to see and eat out there, and Migrationology will take you there!

WORLD OF WANDERLUST

Brooke from World of Wanderlust is one of the original travel bloggers, and she continues to make beautiful travel content. Her website has informative travel articles but her photography is what I love the most on her website, with stunning, high quality images. Also a fellow Tasmanian, Brooke has explored far and wide, and her adventures know no bounds. With a recent move to Africa, and an alluded focus on slow travel, I would love to see some exploration of the stunning content in the next year. I can’t wait to see where she ends up over the new decade and the wonderful destinations she will uncover for us!

FIND US LOST

Selena at Find Us Lost has curated one of the most beautiful travel blogs on the internet. With stunning photography and extremely well-written and researched articles, Find Us Lost is a one-stop-shop for travellers. Selena’s adventures have taken her all over the world, and following her on social media is continuously inspirational. Following the blog over the last few years has encouraged me to keep travelling, and I am excited to see what new places she showcases in 2020!

NOMADASAURUS

NOMADasaurus is the first travel blog I ever followed and I haven’t stopped tagging along since. Alesha and Jarryd are travel blogging royalty and have explored some of the most fascinating places on the planet. Their honest guides showcase some of the world’s most incredible destinations, and I always look forward to reading their posts. Their posts on Central Asia are some of my favourites, and the focus on adventure travel means that there is always exciting content on the horizon. You should 100% be following NOMADasaurus in the New Year!

ADVENTUROUS KATE

Adventurous Kate is a well-known travel blogger but one I have only somehow discovered in the last couple of years! But thank goodness I did, because her honest commentary and advice has inspired me ever since. Her extensive travel history and adventures in off-beat locations have kept me locked on to the blog. It’s because of Kate’s recommendation that I spent a week in beautiful Isla Holbox, Mexico this year and felt comfortable solo travelling there.

Kate’s not shy of speaking her mind and I absolutely love it — it’s very refreshing in this industry! Adventurous Kate stands up against a lot of the negative aspects of the industry, discusses thought provoking concepts in travel, all whilst empowering women to travel anywhere, everywhere, and often. You won’t regret following Kate in 2020!

FLYING THE NEST

Another Aussie couple for the list, but I absolutely love following Flying the Nest! Having travelled to 70 countries, there is a wealth of travel information on this blog. Their adventures know no bounds and the stunning, uplifting photography shows destinations in the best light. I particularly enjoyed their posts from Russia this year — somewhere I have always wanted to go — and their adventures from Slovakia and India. Looking forward to seeing what this creative and dynamic couple get up to this year, make sure you follow along!
